Remote user gets a UAC prompt but just the consent (yes/no, whatever) not the password. Start installer from this elevated command prompt Start a browser from this command prompt to download the Teamviewer executable (may not be needed but I gave up when I couldn't access the remote user's profile and couldn't find a writable temp folder so I can justmove 'his' copy somewhere) Open command prompt as local admin - runas from cmd Use Quickassist to log in (or perhaps some other tool, to make sure you can execute Teamviewer later for installation) I replicated the problem on a fresh VM.Īfter some more browsing today I found the following solution: According to various Internet sources if you enable Windows logon on the remote host TV config (Options/Security) (can be done in QS mode), and you start your local Teamviewer as admin, you can log on by specifying the local admin credentials on the local host and use it to access the remote host which is supposed to restart Teamviewer with the admin credentials there so you don't get the password prompt on the remote side anymore. So originally I browsed on the topic for 2-3 hours, installed a VM to test it and got nowhere. Logging some information for historical reasons in case anyone else has the same. She is ~ 1400km away and with coronavirus this is really annoying, but even without it would be quite an overkill to travel all the way there to set things up. Is UAC not supposed to work? Is there any way to circumvent this, could be via a different tool, as long as I know a user and password that's admin and I have user cooperation from that end? Now she is not an admin (no malware since then) she gets Uac prompt to enter my password which I wouldn't want to share with her, when I gave her my old computer I forgot to change the password so it's one of my fairly common passwords.Īnyway there's a lot of articles and questions on the web how to log on using Windows credentials, I do that but I don't think the remote side Teamviewer ever restarts with admin privileges, basically I just connect same way and again if I want to do anything meaningful she gets the password prompt and I get the empty screen. Since this is my 70 year old mothers' I sometimes need to help her with stuff.

I have a remote pc with Teamviewer quick support (downloaded exe).
